Development of Principle Guidelines To Support the Implementation of the Merced Groundwater Sustainability Plan within MIUGSA.

The Merced Subbasin GSP was submitted to the California Department of Water Resources on January 28, 2020, and details how the Merced Subbasin will become sustainable over a 20-year timeframe through a combination of projects and management of groundwater pumping. The GSAs now move into the implementation phase of the GSP, which will involve implementation of projects and management actions, ongoing stakeholder engagement, coordination with neighboring basins, and monitoring of basin groundwater conditions.

MIUGSA is currently spearheading the process to develop initial principle guidelines and policies within its boundaries. Please subscribe to MIUGSA’s mailing list and check the website for updates.

Creating an inclusive and transparent public involvement process is paramount to achieve the goals of the Merced Groundwater Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). MIUGSA developed a Public Involvement Plan (PIP) to facilitate communication, provide for the dissemination of information and involvement between a Stakeholder Guidance Committee (SGC) and the MIUGSA board.
